Gaming guilds have taken the crypto industry by storm, and players are always on the lookout for the latest metaverse games with attractive rewards.
With Farsite, gamers are given the opportunity to explore space and earn money at the same time. The game combines the very popular play-to-earn model and also relies on engaging storylines and interesting gameplay altogether.
What is Farsite?
Farsite is an upcoming blockchain-based multiplayer online real-time strategy (MMORTS) game that combines the elements of DeFi and NFTs.
The game simulates space exploration, presenting a lot of adventure and sci-fi storytelling. It is being developed by Supernovae, the team behind MegaCryptoPolis, a popular metaverse built on Ethereum that since 2018 has paid out millions to the users.
Farsite is designed to be compatible with the long-anticipated Ethereum 2.0 network, with Polygon as its scaling solution. Additionally, all in-game actions are recorded using the zero-knowledge technology, ZK Relay.
How Does it Work?
The setting of the game is the Farsite Universe, where players take on different roles and collect various in-game resources during their exploration of the galaxy to create their own NFTs.
Farsite does not provide players with any extra in-game assets, so they will have to create everything from scratch.
The items created by players, such as Ships, are cNFTs, which are ERC-721 tokens with locked ERC-20 tokens used as collateral. They can be used in-game to earn Credits or traded between players on the platform and NFT marketplaces such as OpenSea.
To create any in-game assets, players will have to either find resources by mining asteroids and planets in the game or by purchasing them from other players.
Farsite is completely decentralized. The players control everything in the game, including the economy, the stars, planets, and different corporations. They can be virtually anything they want in the game and monetize their time playing.
There are two native tokens on the Farsite platform, Credits and FAR. Credits are the only tokens used for almost every activity on the Farsite Galaxy. They are used for refueling ships, powering operations on a base, acquiring land on a planet, exploring a new planet, paying taxes to star governors, and many more.
After the initial distribution of Credits, players can only acquire them when they purchase Crates, which are containers with valuable game items and the only source for original Blueprint required to build spaceships. The limited Crates pre-order launches on the 2nd of December.
Players can get FAR tokens by converting their Credit. They are used for external transactions on the Ethereum blockchain and represent the value of 1,000 Credits.
Interestingly, Farsite uses the cNFT or collateralized NFT model, a new standard for collateral staking that allows players to borrow money using in-game assets as collateral.
The initial supply of 10,000,000 FAR tokens will be minted, with 90% locked up. Farsite Universe is in the development stage, with the early Alpha version of the game to become available on December 14. Further release dates will be announced at the beginning of 2022. There is currently an ongoing airdrop for early adopters who sign-up and complete some social tasks.
